Why are custom cookies so expensive?
If I wasn’t a cookie artist myself, I’d find it hard to see the value in handcrafted, custom cookies without knowing all that went into them. I truly appreciate all of you who see value in what I do. I love creating for you!
Order Details & Design: I first go over the order details & requests with you. This can be brief or a lengthy exchange of messages. An invoice is created with all pertinent details. The design process can take a few hours, easily. I decide on colors, gather inspiration, sketch, jot down ideas. I sometimes have to create templates for hand cut designs. I choose fonts, design text layouts, finalize compositions and print necessary shapes.
Mixing Up the Goods: Next, we have to bake! I gather cookie cutters and cut out templates. All dough is made from scratch. Ingredients like butter & Madagascar vanilla bean paste are costly. Mix, roll, cut, chill, bake, REPEAT. Royal Icing time! It can take a few hours to make the perfect shades and consistencies, Different design elements require different consistencies.
Now For the Fun Part: Time to decorate! Decorating a set of custom cookies can easily take anywhere from 4-10 hours pending the level of design. I value this part of the process most and take extra time and caution to create crisp & clean intricate details, line-work, logos, and typefaces from start (flooding) to finish (piping).
Dressing Up the Goods: Lastly, we have to package. I value a beautifully packaged product. First impressions are important. Cellophane bags, window boxes, shred, stickers, handle bags, etc. I typically prefer to heat seal cookies so I can ensure the freshest cookie. I just spent so many hours creating something beautiful and custom for you, I want it to be presented to you in a beautiful way too!
How are your cookies packaged?
Standard packaging is included: bakery box or basket. Cookies are individually heat sealed to ensure freshness. Individual favor bags or specialty packaging is available upon request.
Can I freeze your cookies?
Yes! Decorated cookies freeze beautifully if proper instructions are followed. This comes in handy if you need to order ahead of time or if you have extras you’d like to enjoy at a later date. Just let me know and I can provide instructions for you!
Do you ship?
No, we do not offer shipping at this time.
